'The Situations' is a comedy-drama series written by Dave Young at The Shouting Mute and other AAC users about a group of misfit disabled teenagers, their carers and families as their lives entangle. It's about a rights of passage into an adulthood with challenges of ableism, friendships and love and lost love along the way.
The short stories are going to be published in a single anthology before being developed into a screenplay for television.
We also have a 'Smile and Nod' short prequel in development being released as a radio play soon and an animation later.
The Shouting Mute presents Meltdown (formerly Social media meltdown) co-produced with Diverse City. A new multidisciplinary gig-theatre performance coming in 2024! Co-created with children and young people and inspired by their relationship with social media, the performance combines poetry performed through eye gaze technology, storytelling, original music, and explores the relationship between social media and mental health. Partnerships includes the 'Arts Council England' , Diverse city, 'The Poole Lighthouse centre for the arts' and the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). See more here and Discover more here

The Shouting Mute EP is a project showcasing accessibility and music.
The first three songs were released in collaboration and support from Drake Music's 'Emergent music artist programme' and are available to listen and download here on BANDCAMP.
Shouting Voices band project. is the shouting mutes primary music project for young AAC users between 18-35 years who has a passion for music and wants to play a musical instrument using their communication aid and with accessible technology. Every month we meet at a location running for a music class with our mentoring lead Dave Young and music technician Mike Whitlock culminating Saturday 21st Nov
Using the latest accessible music technology and old school want to mentor new skills, building confidence, and working together as a team. It is about bringing the AAC community in the southwest (Dorset/BCP/Hampshire/Wiltshire/Somerset/Devon) out of the home and through music we want to improve their communication in real life too.
The Shouting Voices Film Festival is a film festival celebrating diversity and inclusion in cinema on the big screen. Based in Poole it is the first festival in this region in the UK of it’s kind. Inspired by Easterseals disability challenge and all the great content and films from our community, we want tpo put on a weekend that celebrates disabled filmmakers and actors with awards and screenings at The Lighthouse cinema.
