Smile and Nod is a comedy-drama series written by Dave Young at The Shouting Mute and other AAC users about a group of misfit disabled teenagers, their carers and families as their lives entangle. It's about a rights of passage into an adulthood with challenges of ableism, friendships and love and lost love along the way.

The short stories are going to be published in a single anthology before being developed into a screenplay for television. 

We also have a 'Smile and Nod' short prequel in development being released as a radio play soon and an animation later.

The Shouting Mute presents Social Media Meltdown co-produced with Diverse City. A new multidisciplinary gig-theatre performance coming in 2024! Co-created with children and young people and inspired by their relationship with social media, the performance combines poetry performed through eye gaze technology, storytelling, original music, and explores the relationship between social media and mental health. Partnerships includes the 'Arts Council England' and 'The Poole Lighthouse centre for the arts' and the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). See more here and Discover more here
